One of my absolute favorite parts of my job is teaching workshops. I get so much joy from connecting people to their inner creative and empowering them to create their own original work. Remember when you were a kid and you sat on the floor and drew for hours? I like to bring back that childlike wonder and joy as often as possible and it's something we majorly tap into at the workshop. Why paint if you're not having any fun???? I love watching anxieties over "messing up" their piece melt away as we crank up the music and just play and explore all the different possibilities a blank canvas can hold.

I love hearing from former attendees when they email me with the most amazing line: This is my 'what if' painting!" and show me a new piece they've done that's way different from their norm. it's a brave piece because it came from a place inside of …

I love hearing from former attendees when they email me with the most amazing line: This is my 'what if' painting!" and show me a new piece they've done that's way different from their norm. it's a brave piece because it came from a place inside of them that they were a little scared to explore and I couldn't be happier to hear those words and see those paintings. I adore the workshops that I teach- we ask hard questions- we explore new ideas- we shut down fear and tap into curiosity.

Hands spread across the table extending friendship, encouragement, supplies, new life. This picture perfectly captures the atmosphere I love creating at a workshop. One of my favorite scenes is watching new friendships form and golden nuggets of helpful hints and tricks shared among attendees. The nature of an artist's work can be isolating and we need each other to push us to do better work and to keep going on the hard days. I set each attendees supplies up like a dinner place setting- it makes me a little giddy to do so because it's really like gathering friends for an art dinner. It brings me so much joy to bring people to the table, connect them to each other and paint together. Come join a new community of art friends!!!
